About Jody Hicks:

Originally from a small farm in Quebec, Canada, Jody Hicks M.A. has been dedicated to understanding and honoring the healing potential of the Earth as far back as she can remember. Equipped with her patience, curiosity and imagination she learned that taking journeys into the natural world provided her with much nourishment and the opportunity to connect with the incredible mystery of life that sustains us. She thus believes that developing and maintaining a kinship with Nature is crucial for the overall well being of the planet.

Jody graduated from Naropa University with her master’s degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Wilderness Therapy in May of 2006; she is trained as a Wilderness First Responder.

She has worked with a wide diversity of populations and settings, both with individuals and groups: including wilderness work with emotionally challenged youth at risk, intensive outpatient programs for teens and adults struggling with addictions, emergency mental health services for adults in crisis, managing an after school program for young girls K-4th grade, working overnight and day shelters for homeless women, supporting the wisdom of the elderly, transitional living for young adult women, mentoring graduate students, and leading half-day long intensives for families. Jody’s therapeutic orientation encompasses Gestalt, body-centered therapy, storytelling, Earth based rites of passage, contemplative interventions, creative exploration, transpersonal psychology, and developmental awareness as supports along the healing path.

Jody’s mission is to help nurture an understanding of the interconnectedness of all life. She supports the value of learning from different peoples, natural landscapes and cultures while cultivating a sense of wonder and exploration about this incredible world we live in.  Drawing on her contemplative based training, Jody works as an effective and valued agent of positive change by providing therapeutic support, creating an atmosphere of understanding and genuine sensitivity without judgment. Her deepest passion is to empower women of all ages through the wilderness of their minds towards cultivating their Life’s purpose and developing deeper Spiritual connection.

When not working Jody can usually be found on the hiking trails around Boulder with her canine companion Shyila, in the mountains snowboarding, curled up journaling or reading a good book by the fire or under a tree outside, sipping tea with friends, living life and feeling as fully as she dares in each moment.
